Performance Therapy

Are you healthy, but just want to make sure you are doing every thing possible to maximize your athletic potential and minimize your risk of injury? Our Performance Therapy Sessions are utilized in conjunction with your performance training to do just that. At EPI, we understand the role movement dysfunction can play in injury risk as well as limiting production on the field. Lacking normal, fundamental movement not only increases a person’s risk for injury, but also stunts the progress an athlete can make in their performance training. Muscles and joints that move better; feel better and perform better.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to see a doctor first before coming to physical therapy?

No, you do not. The state of Maryland allows a patient to consult with, and receive treatment from, a physical therapist without a referral from your doctor. This is a big advantage for you as it allows us to start treatment quicker, which often leads to you feeling better faster.

Do I have to be injured to receive physical therapy?

No, you do not. At EPI, we take a comprehensive look at the way your body moves to determine any mobility deficits, muscle imbalances, strength deficits, or motor control deficits you have that may contribute to current or future injury, limit your success with strength training, or negatively impact your athletic performance. Our Performance Therapy Sessions offer a combination of manual therapy and corrective exercises to help you move your best, so you can train your best and perform your best.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Loose fitting, work out attire is best. Your clothing should not restrict your movement and should be easy to access the injured area.

Do you take my insurance?

We are an out-of-network physical therapy provider, therefore we do not directly accept health insurance. Current insurance regulations do not allow us to provide the comprehensive, 1 on 1, treatment we feel you need and deserve. By not directly billing insurance we have the ability to provide direct 1 on 1 treatment for a full hour, not distracted by multiple patients with overlapping appointment times. This allows each of our patients to receive high quality care during each appointment and leads to them feeling better, faster.

We will provide you with all the necessary documents for you to submit a self claim for reimbursement from your insurance company. There is no guarantee of reimbursement and will depend on your specific plan and the benefits within.

Will you have to take care of anyone else while I'm with you?

No, here at EPI we treat only 1 patient at a time. More direct 1 on 1 treatment with the physical therapist allows us to treat you more comprehensively and helps you to achieve your goals faster.
